Floods Destroy 50 Homes and Damage Farmland in Baghlan Province

The Natural Disaster Preparedness Department of the Taliban administration in Baghlan province has announced that recent floods have completely destroyed at least 50 residential homes and damaged hundreds of acres of agricultural land.
Hidayatullah Hamdard, the head of this department in Baghlan, said that 30 houses were destroyed in the Kilegi area of Dushi district and 20 other homes in the Khwaja Alwan village of Dand-e Ghori district. He added that this event has also caused significant financial losses for local farmers.
Residents of the affected areas are facing extensive damages amid a season marked by heavy rains and successive floods across many provinces of the country since the beginning of the current solar year. These calamities have resulted in both human casualties and substantial financial damage.
According to reports, Nangarhar, Baghlan, Kapisa, Panjshir, Kabul, and Maidan Wardak provinces are among the hardest hit regions. Aid organizations have warned that the continuation of this situation will exacerbate the existing humanitarian crisis in the country and increase the urgent need for support among vulnerable communities.
Meanwhile, the lack of effective planning for natural disaster risk management and timely assistance to victims has consistently been identified as a serious challenge facing the Taliban administration. This issue has also raised concerns among residents of the flood-affected areas.
