Taliban Distributes 1,241 Land Plots to Returning Families Across Four Afghan Provinces

The Taliban’s Ministry of Urban Development and Housing announced that yesterday, 1,241 returning families were allocated land plots for permanent settlement in four provinces of the country. According to a statement by the ministry, these land plots were distributed in Nangarhar, Faryab, Farah, and Helmand provinces.

Details provided indicated that 584 families in Nangarhar, 397 in Faryab, 133 in Farah, and 127 in Helmand received land plots. The distribution took place on Monday of this week.

The Taliban’s Ministry of Urban Development added that with this allocation, the total number of residential land plots distributed nationwide has reached 36,960. The ministry emphasized that the program to support returning families, facilitate their permanent settlement, and provide living facilities will continue.

However, no details have been released regarding the exact locations of these areas or the access to basic services such as drinking water, electricity, schools, and health centers. Migration experts consistently stress that land distribution is effective only if necessary infrastructure for sustainable living is provided simultaneously—a matter on which the Taliban administration has yet to offer a clear report on how it will be implemented.
