Deadly Collision Between Two Buses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Leaves 16 Dead

At least 16 passengers were killed and seven others injured following a collision between a speeding van and a passenger bus on the Swat highway in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The incident occurred on Monday when the passenger bus, which was stationary on the roadside, was struck from behind by the van.

According to the media outlet Aaj News, the passenger bus was traveling from Karachi to Boner, while the van was en route from Rawalpindi to Dir. The severe crash between the two vehicles resulted in significant casualties among the passengers.

Local police have stated that preliminary investigations indicate the primary cause of the accident was the van driver’s negligence and excessive speed. The injured have been transferred to medical centers for treatment.

The Swat highway is one of the busiest routes in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with numerous traffic accidents reported annually, mainly due to overspeeding and driver carelessness.
