Construction of $150 Million Commercial Center Begins in Mazar-i-Sharif

The construction of a six-story commercial center valued at approximately 150 million Afghanis has officially begun in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of Balkh province. Project officials state that this commercial market will be completed and operational by the end of this year.

According to the officials, the building is being constructed on a plot of land covering nearly 2,650 square meters, which belongs to the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum. Mohammad Asif Momand, the project manager, announced that the construction process will take between six to nine months, with an estimated investment of around 150 million Afghanis.

Project engineers emphasize that high-quality, locally produced construction materials are being used in the building. Workers involved in the project also consider the initiation of such projects a positive step toward creating job opportunities. One worker expressed happiness about having a job and supporting his family’s livelihood, hoping that this trend continues. Another worker, Khair Mohammad, stated that continuing similar projects would pave the way for more employment and the country’s progress, adding that he is satisfied with his salary payments.

Previously, the Mazar-i-Sharif municipality announced that it had issued permits for the construction of over 300 high-rise commercial and residential buildings in the city. This move reflects increased construction activities in one of the most important economic centers in northern Afghanistan.
