Taliban Representative Discusses Health Insurance for Afghan Migrants with Iranian Official

The Taliban’s representative office in Tehran announced that its head held talks with the head of Iran’s Center for Foreign Nationals and Migrants Affairs regarding issues faced by Afghan migrants, particularly concerning the payment of health insurance for holders of Amayesh cards.

According to a newsletter from the Afghanistan Embassy under Taliban administration in Iran, Fazl Mohammad Haqqani, the chargé d’affaires of this office, met with Seyed Taghi Ghaemi to exchange views on the existing challenges in providing services to Afghan migrants.

During the meeting, the method of paying health insurance premiums for holders of the Amayesh card was a key topic of discussion. The Amayesh card is a document issued to a segment of Afghan migrants residing in Iran, granting them access to certain services, including healthcare.

No further details about the practical outcomes of this dialogue or any potential decisions have been released. However, the issue of Afghan migrants’ access to healthcare services and how insurance fees are paid remains a significant and closely watched matter within the migrant community in Iran.
