Construction of $2 Million Carpet Processing Factory Begins in Baghlan

The construction of a carpet processing factory worth nearly two million dollars has commenced in the Cham Qala area of Baghlan province. Local officials say this project is being implemented with private sector investment and will provide employment opportunities for hundreds of people once completed.

Mohammad Naeem, an official from Baghlan’s Department of Industry and Commerce, stated that the factory is being built by the domestic company ‘Mujahid Barkatzi.’ According to him, the operation of this facility will create both direct and indirect job opportunities for the residents of the province.

Officials explained that the purpose of establishing this factory is to process locally produced carpets and increase the added value of these products. Carpet weaving is considered an important handicraft in Afghanistan, and the establishment of processing centers can contribute to improving the quality, packaging, and better marketing of carpets in domestic and international markets.
