Afghan Liberation Front Expands Military Operations in Badakhshan

The Afghan Liberation Front has announced that its commando units have been deployed in various parts of Badakhshan province and that several clashes with Taliban forces have occurred in Jurm district, particularly in the Khastak valley, over the past month. On Saturday, 16 May, the front shared a video showing the presence of its forces, stating that they are actively engaged on the battlefield.

The statement from the front noted that at least four attacks, ambushes, and clashes have taken place in Jurm district in recent weeks. According to them, Taliban attacks on their positions were “repelled and thwarted.” The Liberation Front also claimed that these clashes caused casualties among Taliban forces, forcing them to retreat. The Taliban administration has not yet responded to these claims.

The front added that the presence of its forces has increased in some parts of Badakhshan and described this expansion as part of its plan to organize and broaden its military activities. Badakhshan, a mountainous province in northeastern Afghanistan, has historically seen activities from various armed groups due to its unique geography.

The statement further alleged that Taliban forces in certain areas of Badakhshan have restricted movement, conducted house-to-house searches, and arrested individuals—actions that, if confirmed, raise serious concerns about the human rights situation for local residents.

In conclusion, the Liberation Front called on the people of Badakhshan and other provinces to support what it described as the “struggle against Taliban rule” and emphasized that it will continue its military operations.
