Kabul and Tehran Discuss 500 kV Power Project and Energy Cooperation

The Chargé d’Affaires of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Kabul announced during a meeting with the Director General of Da Afghanistan Breshna Company that Tehran is ready to expand its cooperation with Afghanistan in economic, trade, and energy sectors.
According to a press release from Da Afghanistan Breshna Company, Alireza Beikdeli requested Abdul Haq Hamkar to travel to Iran for further talks on bilateral cooperation.
Meanwhile, the Director General of Da Afghanistan Breshna Company highlighted Afghanistan’s existing capacities, stating that the country offers significant investment opportunities in the energy sector. He emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation between Kabul and Tehran in this field.
During the meeting, the 500-kilovolt electricity transmission project and the development of renewable energies were also discussed. In recent years, regional electricity transmission projects and investments in alternative energy have been considered key options for ensuring sustainable power supply in the country.
