UN Provides Humanitarian Aid to Over 27,000 People in Balkh and Jowzjan Provinces

The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that it has delivered humanitarian aid to more than 27,000 people in Balkh and Jowzjan provinces. The assistance includes access to safe drinking water, health services, and the establishment of health facilities.

OCHA also warned that approximately 22 million people in Afghanistan will require humanitarian aid in 2026, highlighting the ongoing human crisis in the country.

According to the agency, heavy rains and recent floods in several provinces have further increased needs. Reports indicate that the latest floods have affected over 72,000 people nationwide.

This situation persists amid Afghanistan’s widespread economic challenges and existing restrictions under the Taliban administration, conditions that, according to aid organizations, have made access to essential services more difficult and increased dependence on foreign assistance.
