EU Supports FAO Initiative to Enhance Farmers’ Skills in Badghis Province

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations has announced that with the support of the European Union, it is strengthening the “Farmers’ Field Schools” program in Badghis province. This program aims to improve agricultural skills, increase crop yields, and reduce post-harvest losses.

Under this program, local farmers in the province gather in educational sessions to discuss their work challenges, share experiences, and collaboratively seek practical solutions. These meetings facilitate hands-on training and experience exchange among farmers.

FAO stated that creating such educational spaces can help improve farm management, reduce the risk of crop loss, and protect the income of farming families. The organization believes that empowering farmers plays a vital role in sustaining livelihoods in rural areas.

Badghis province is one of Afghanistan’s agriculturally focused regions, where a large portion of the population depends on farming and livestock. Supporting educational and technical programs in such areas can have a positive impact on the economic conditions of farming families.
