NBC: Trump Abruptly Withdraws from ‘Freedom Project’ Amid Allied Backlash

NBC News, citing several American officials, has reported that Donald Trump, the President of the United States, has suddenly withdrawn from the plan known as the ‘Freedom Project’ following sharp and angry reactions from some of the country’s allies. According to the report, the plan was introduced to facilitate the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz.

The media outlet stated that the identities of the countries that reacted negatively to the plan have not been disclosed. However, the sources emphasized that the pressure from Washington’s allies played a decisive role in Trump’s recent decision.

The U.S. President announced on May 16 that the implementation of the ‘Freedom Project’ would be temporarily halted. He cited requests from certain nations, including Pakistan, and the ongoing negotiation process with Iran as reasons for this decision.

In a statement, Trump claimed that this suspension was aimed at paving the way for progress toward achieving a final agreement. At the same time, he stressed that what he called the “blockade” remains in effect and spoke of “progress in negotiations,” though he provided no further details or timeline regarding a potential agreement.
