Taliban Authorities Seize Six Weapons, Arrest Several in Multiple Provinces

Security officials under Taliban administration have announced the discovery of six different firearms in the Dand Patan district of Paktia province, leading to the arrest of one individual linked to their illegal transfer. According to the officials, the weapons included two M16 rifles, two Chinese-made firearms, and two Russian-made firearms.
Security sources reported that the arrested individual had skillfully concealed the weapons inside a drum within a vehicle garage. The individual was attempting to transport the weapons from Khost province to Paktia but was identified and detained by police forces before reaching the destination.
Simultaneously, officials stated that in several separate operations, two more individuals were arrested in different provinces on charges of illegal possession of weapons. No further details have been provided regarding the types of weapons seized in these incidents.
In another development, security forces also reported the arrest of several suspects in connection with criminal offenses. These include one individual accused of stealing 100,000 Pakistani rupees in Nad Ali district of Helmand province, another accused of murder in Farah province, and a third suspect linked to theft in Logar province.
Despite the announcement of these arrests, monitoring organizations continue to emphasize that transparency in judicial proceedings and the protection of defendants’ rights—including access to legal counsel and fair trials—are crucial issues that the Taliban administration must seriously uphold.
