Journalists Complain About Restricted Access to Information
A number of journalists have expressed concern over the state of information access, stating that government agencies do not provide the necessary information to the media in a timely and transparent manner. According to them, this situation has hindered the process of accurate and responsible reporting.
These journalists emphasize that the right to access information is a fundamental principle of media activity, and without cooperation from the administrations, media outlets cannot properly fulfill their supervisory and informative duties. They add that currently, access to information is faced with serious obstacles.
According to these journalists, spokespeople from some government institutions are reluctant to provide clear and specific answers to reporters’ questions and share information based on personal preferences. This approach has led to decreased transparency and fostered speculation and ambiguity among the public.
Media activists stress that the Taliban administration is responsible for ensuring free and non-discriminatory access to information. They call for the establishment of clear and accountable mechanisms for information provision so that media can operate within professional standards and in the interest of citizens.
