First Russia-Afghanistan Economic Commission Meeting Scheduled for May in Kazan

Rustam Khabibulin, head of the Russian Trade Center in Afghanistan, announced that the inaugural meeting of the joint economic commission between Russia and Afghanistan will be held in May this year within the framework of the “Russia and the Islamic World” forum in the city of Kazan. According to him, the meeting will focus on expanding bilateral trade, improving logistics processes, and cooperation in the energy and labor sectors.
Khabibulin told Sputnik that the meeting will be attended by 15 members of the Taliban administration, and its aim is to explore ways to strengthen economic cooperation between the two sides. He added that the issue of employing Afghan labor will also be on the agenda of this meeting.
According to the provided information, Nooruddin Azizi, acting Minister of Industry and Trade of the Taliban administration, chairs the commission on behalf of Afghanistan, while Rustam Khabibulin is responsible for coordinating it on behalf of Russia.
The “Russia and the Islamic World” forum is held annually in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan, and is recognized as one of the platforms for dialogue between Moscow and Islamic countries in economic and trade fields.
