EU Condemns Pakistani Attacks on Kunar and University, Urges Protection of Civilians

The European Union delegation in Afghanistan has condemned the Pakistani military attacks on Kunar province, particularly targeting the Seyed Jamaluddin Afghan University. The delegation stated that educational institutions should not be attacked and that protecting civilians must be a priority.
On Wednesday, 9th of Sawr, the EU emphasized in a statement that adherence to international humanitarian law is a fundamental principle, and all parties are obligated to protect civilians and educational facilities.
Two days earlier, Pakistani forces carried out artillery attacks on Asadabad city, the capital of Kunar province, as well as the Dangam and Shiltan districts. Reports indicate that these attacks resulted in approximately four deaths and 45 injuries.
The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA) also previously declared that educational centers should not be targeted in military attacks. The mission stated that these attacks have caused dozens of casualties and injuries.
The Taliban administration announced that Seyed Jamaluddin Afghan University in Asadabad city was also damaged in these attacks and that several students were wounded. However, further details about the extent of the damage to the educational center have not yet been released.
