Belarus and Poland Exchange Five Prisoners Amid East-West Tensions

International media have reported that Belarus and Poland have exchanged five prisoners at their shared border; a move that comes amid ongoing tensions between the West and Russia over the war in Ukraine.
According to reports, the exchange took place at the border point between the two countries. Belarus released three Polish nationals, including journalist Andrei Poczobut, and two Moldovan citizens.
In return, Poland freed five Belarusian citizens who are said to have been involved in intelligence activities. No further details about their identities or conditions of detention have been released.
Belarus is considered a close ally of Russia, while Poland, as a NATO member, is a strong supporter of Ukraine in its war with Russia. Media sources indicate that the United States played a role in facilitating this agreement.
