Afghan Minister of Higher Education Visits Konar After Rocket Attack on University

The Ministry of Higher Education announced that Neda Mohammad Nadim, the acting head of the ministry, traveled to Konar province following a rocket attack on Seyed Jamaluddin Afghani University. He visited the students injured in the incident. According to local sources, approximately 30 students were wounded in the attack, which also caused financial damage to the university facilities.
A statement from the ministry said that during an academic meeting held on the university campus, attended by Zia-ul-Haq Hamid, the Konar police chief, university officials, and several professors, the recent attacks were strongly condemned. University authorities called for the establishment of lasting security for educational institutions.
The acting Minister of Higher Education said at the meeting that targeting educational centers, students, women, and civilians violates religious principles and international laws, and such actions are unacceptable. He emphasized that after years of conflict, the people of Afghanistan are moving toward education, institution building, and economic growth, and obstacles should not be placed in their path to progress.
He urged all academic institutions to continue their educational activities and not allow academic work to be disrupted. However, the continuation of attacks on educational centers has raised serious concerns about security in areas governed by the Taliban—a matter that citizens have repeatedly demanded effective attention and accountability from officials.
