Taliban Official Warns Against Foreign Intervention in Afghanistan

Mullah Noorullah Noori, the Taliban’s Minister of Borders, Ethnicities, and Tribes, warned during a meeting in Balkh province that any attempt to attack or intervene in Afghanistan will be met with a response. He urged those contemplating such actions to learn from “past experiences.”
According to Noori, the Afghan people have historically never allowed any country to dominate their land and should take heed of the fates of powers such as Russia, Britain, and the United States. These remarks come as the Taliban administration consistently highlights the withdrawal of foreign forces from Afghanistan as a significant political achievement.
The Taliban border minister also claimed that Afghanistan’s economy is gradually strengthening and that the country is moving toward self-sufficiency. Nevertheless, several economic experts have previously expressed concern over the widespread economic challenges, unemployment, and banking restrictions in the country.
During the meeting, other Taliban officials emphasized “national unity” and cited public confidence in the current regime as one of its major achievements—an assertion critics counter by pointing to political restrictions and a lack of broad participation in the power structure.
