Severe Floods Cause Heavy Damage to Homes and Water Networks in Ten Provinces

The National Disaster Preparedness Authority under the Taliban administration has reported that due to heavy rainfall and flooding in the past 24 hours, at least 13 people have died and 9 others have been injured across ten provinces. According to the officials of this authority, these events have also caused extensive financial damage.
Mohammad Yousuf Hamad, spokesperson for the authority, stated on Saturday, 5th of Sawr, that floods occurred in the provinces of Kabul, Bamyan, Paktia, Ghor, Badghis, Balkh, Samangan, Sar-e-Pul, Jowzjan, and Baghlan. He added that preliminary assessments indicate that several residential areas and public infrastructures have been severely damaged.
According to the provided information, 94 residential houses were completely destroyed, and 107 others sustained partial damage. Additionally, 17 water supply networks and approximately 12 kilometers of roads were damaged due to the floods, disrupting transportation and access to essential services in some areas.
Officials have also noted that a total of 424 families have been affected by these natural events. However, no clear details have been provided regarding immediate relief efforts for these families or the level of preventive preparedness against natural disasters—an issue that raises concerns among residents of vulnerable areas every year as floods recur.
