Taliban’s Acting Foreign Minister Describes Kabul-Islamabad Talks as ‘Positive’

Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Foreign Minister of the Taliban administration, described the recent negotiations between Kabul and Islamabad as yielding positive results during the graduation ceremony of the Ministry’s sixth specialized diplomacy institute. He characterized the talks as important but did not provide further details on the topics discussed.
Muttaqi emphasized that dealing with major and sensitive issues between the two neighboring Islamic countries requires precision and caution. According to him, diplomats have the responsibility to accurately assess the potential benefits and harms to their country in such interactions and act accordingly.
The Taliban foreign ministry chief also cited daily awareness of international developments as a key trait of a shrewd diplomat, noting that the global situation is continuously changing. These remarks come amid a backdrop of significant ups and downs in Kabul-Islamabad relations in recent years, with the public awaiting greater transparency regarding the practical outcomes of these talks.
Despite Taliban officials stressing the improvement of ties with neighboring countries, it remains unclear to what extent these discussions will help reduce existing tensions and resolve border and political challenges between the two sides.
