Iran’s Foreign Minister Araqchi Meets Pakistan Army Chief in Islamabad

Seyed Abbas Araqchi, Iran’s Foreign Minister, met with Field Marshal Asim Munir, the Chief of Army Staff of Pakistan, in Islamabad during his first regional visit. The meeting took place on the morning of Saturday, April 25, focusing on consultations about regional developments and bilateral relations.
Araqchi arrived in Pakistan’s capital on the evening of Friday, April 24, heading a delegation and was welcomed by Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Muhammad Ishaq Dar and Army Chief Asim Munir. Accompanying Araqchi on this trip are Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Kazem Gharibabadi, deputy for legal and international affairs of the ministry.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that during this visit, dialogues with senior Pakistani officials will focus on Islamabad’s mediation efforts and reviewing the latest status of the US and Israeli regime’s aggressive war against Iran. He also emphasized that no meetings with the United States are scheduled; Tehran’s views are being conveyed through the Pakistani side.
Previously, Araqchi had spoken by phone with Pakistan’s Army Chief and hosted him in Tehran on April 15. Additionally, Araqchi was part of the Iranian delegation during the first round of Iran-US talks held in Islamabad on April 11-12, which were mediated by Pakistan.
Araqchi announced that after Pakistan, he will travel to Oman and Russia. He described the purpose of these periodic visits as close coordination with partners on bilateral matters and consultations regarding regional developments, stressing that neighbors are a priority in Iran’s foreign policy.
