3G Internet Activated for the First Time in a Nuristan Village

The Information and Culture Directorate of the Taliban administration in Nuristan province announced that, for the first time, 3G internet services of the Salam telecom network have been activated in the village of Loy Wigel in the Wigel district. According to the directorate, residents of this area now have access to third-generation internet services.

According to the released statement, this move is part of expanding telecommunications services in remote areas of Nuristan. Nuristan province is considered one of the mountainous and less developed provinces in eastern Afghanistan, where access to telecom services has been limited in some regions.

Some residents of the Wigel district regard the activation of 3G internet as a new convenience in communication, access to information, education, and commercial activities. They have stated that they will utilize these services effectively.

Expanding internet services in remote areas can facilitate better access to online education, digital markets, and faster communications; a need that residents of this district have described as critical in recent years.
