IRGC Rebukes US Navy After Shooting at Iranian Commercial Vessel in the Sea of Oman

The Navy of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has stated that following gunfire from American forces directed at an Iranian commercial ship in the waters near the Sea of Oman, it promptly dispatched its units, forcing the opposing side to leave the area.
According to information published by Mehr News Agency, the incident occurred today. The IRGC said that American forces stationed in the region fired shots at an Iranian commercial vessel to compel it to return toward Iranian territorial waters.
Meanwhile, the report noted that this incident followed the IRGC’s control measures in the Strait of Hormuz, including the turning back of certain Indian and British commercial ships.
US officials have not commented on the details of this event as of the time this report was published. The Sea of Oman and the Strait of Hormuz are significant energy transit routes in the region, and any tensions in these areas attract widespread international attention.
