Weapons Seized and Afghan Nationals Detained in Major Security Operation in Pakistan’s Capital

Pakistani police officials have announced that as a result of a large-scale security operation across various parts of Islamabad, 56 individuals have been detained, including 20 Afghan migrants. According to the police, the operation was conducted on Saturday, April 17.

Pakistani media report that those detained were brought in from different areas of the capital city, but the police have yet to provide clear details regarding the reasons for the detention of the Afghan migrants. It remains unclear whether these individuals have been formally charged with any specific offenses.

A security official in Islamabad stated that during the operation, four pistols and some ammunition were seized from several suspects. However, it has not been clarified to whom the weapons belonged or whether they are connected to the Afghan migrants.

In recent months, following tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan, the detention and deportation of Afghan migrants by Pakistani authorities have intensified. These actions have raised widespread concerns among human rights organizations.

Human rights groups have repeatedly warned that among those detained are journalists, civil activists, and Afghan women, raising serious questions about the respect for legal rights of migrants and the transparency of security procedures in Pakistan.
