Belgium Seizes Two Shipments of Military Parts Destined for Israel

Belgian authorities have intercepted two shipments of UK-made military parts intended for Israel at Liège airport. This action followed investigations and reports by human rights organizations and investigative media that uncovered details about these shipments.

According to the published report, the investigations revealed that the shipments included fire control systems and components for military aircraft; however, these items were not accurately declared in official documents. This discrepancy prompted the Office of the Belgian Federal Prosecutor to launch a criminal investigation into the issuance and transfer of these materials.

The report highlighted that the American company “MOG,” through its factories in the UK, was identified as the main exporter of these shipments. It is alleged that exporters used individual export licenses to register these items as ordinary aircraft parts rather than military components.

This development comes amid increased scrutiny by human rights organizations on the transfer of military equipment to Israel in light of ongoing regional events. Some groups have called for greater transparency in the arms licensing processes of European countries.
