Afghanistan Bank Reports Nearly 10% Strengthening of Afghani in 1404 Solar Year

Afghanistan Bank has announced that during the solar year 1404, it managed to strengthen and maintain the value of the Afghani against the US dollar by 9.93 percent. The institution cited this figure as one of the financial achievements of the past year. According to the bank, alongside the relative stability of the Afghani exchange rate, progress has been made in electronic banking, with some digital financial services expanding. Furthermore, Afghanistan Bank reported achievements in the field of Islamic banking, stating that considerable actions have been taken in this area. Operating under the Taliban administration, Afghanistan Bank’s claims of strengthening the national currency’s value come amid ongoing calls from economic activists for greater transparency in financial statistics and regular access to independent reports. These actors believe that sustainable stability of the national currency requires clear financial policies, public trust, and extensive engagement with the regional and global financial systems. The Afghani, as the country’s official currency, plays a crucial role in economic stability and the purchasing power of residents. Any fluctuations against foreign currencies, especially the US dollar, directly impact markets and the daily lives of the people.
