Taliban Representative Signals Afghanistan’s Readiness to Resume Cooperation with Shanghai Cooperation Organization

A Taliban administration representative in Russia has announced that Afghanistan, as an observer country in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), is ready to resume its cooperation with this regional body.

Gul Hassan, in an interview with TASS news agency, expressed hope that Afghan representatives would participate in upcoming SCO meetings and play a more active role within the organization.

According to him, following efforts by Moscow and Beijing, most member states of the SCO have concluded that reinstating Afghanistan’s active participation in the organization’s working processes is feasible.

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization is a regional entity focused on security, political, and economic cooperation. Afghanistan has participated as an observer in some of its programs in recent years.
