More than 550 tons of fuel caught fire following a Pakistani airstrike on a large fuel storage near Kandahar’s Maulvi Malik Airport. The fuel, belonging to the private company Kam Air, was largely destroyed in the attack, which occurred late last night.

Qari Shafiullah Riyaz, the financial and administrative chief of Maulvi Malik Airport in Kandahar, stated at the scene on Friday that the airstrike targeted Kam Air’s fuel depot and also destroyed several vehicles nearby.

Dad Mohammad Popal, the manager of the depot, reported that the attack took place around midnight, damaging fuel supplies intended for Kam Air flights, the World Food Programme (WFP), and UNAMA. He added that parts of the storage facilities were also damaged.

Officials noted that two individuals sustained minor injuries in the incident, with no fatalities reported. The depot manager estimated the value of the destroyed fuel at approximately 600,000 US dollars.
