Qatar’s Prime Minister Urges Immediate De-escalation of Regional Tensions

Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, emphasized the urgent need to reduce regional tensions and for all parties to return to the negotiating table during separate phone calls with officials from several countries.
According to Al Jazeera, Al-Thani called on Sweden’s Foreign Minister to halt provocative actions, stressing that current disputes should be resolved through dialogue and diplomacy. In a phone conversation with Tarek Meteri, Lebanon’s Deputy Prime Minister, he reiterated Doha’s support for Lebanon amid the sensitive regional situation.
Simultaneously, foreign ministers of Serbia, Cuba, Kyrgyzstan, and Lebanon also held separate talks with Qatar’s Prime Minister regarding recent developments. In these calls, all parties expressed concern over rising tensions and emphasized the importance of de-escalation and settling disputes through diplomatic means.
In a related development, some European sources earlier reported that Saudi Arabia has increased direct contacts with Iran to contain the regional conflict and mitigate its consequences, especially the pressure on global markets. According to these sources, secret talks between Saudi and Iranian officials have gained urgency in recent days to prevent further deterioration of the situation.
