Taliban Administration Denies UN Security Council’s Concerns Over Afghanistan

The Taliban administration’s spokesperson has dismissed concerns raised during the recent United Nations Security Council meeting about potential threats originating from Afghan territory, calling them baseless and propaganda-driven.

Zabiullah Mujahid claimed that some countries exploited the absence of an Afghan representative at the session to create an atmosphere of worry. According to him, these statements are more politically motivated than grounded in on-the-ground realities.

Mujahid emphasized that Afghanistan, from the Taliban administration’s perspective, is a secure country and asserted that no foreign or rogue armed groups are present within its borders. He also added that the ISIS phenomenon in Afghanistan has been suppressed and that the group currently operates outside the country’s borders, particularly in some neighboring areas.

However, critics have repeatedly stated that a lack of transparency, restricted access for international organizations, and Afghanistan’s exclusion from official dialogue processes have made independent assessments of the country’s security situation difficult—a factor that continues to fuel international concern.
