Earthquake-Damaged Qush-Asiab School in Herat Reopens as Safe Learning Environment

The Qush-Asiab school in Herat province, which was damaged by recent earthquakes, has reopened after reconstruction as a safe educational environment. It now serves 800 students.
According to the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) office in Afghanistan, this initiative has enabled students to return to classrooms and continue their education in secure conditions.
The agency emphasized that the rebuilding of this school was carried out with the cooperation of the United Nations Trust Fund, aiming to create sustainable change in the lives of local residents, especially children and adolescents.
Herat is one of the provinces that has experienced multiple earthquakes in recent years, causing damage to educational facilities and raising serious concerns about children’s access to education.
