Construction of Solar Water Supply Network Begins for 600 Families in Laghman

The United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) has announced the construction of a large water supply network to address the drinking water shortage in the Baba Sahib returnee and displaced persons camp in Laghman province.

According to this information, several families residing in this camp have faced severe difficulties accessing clean water in recent years, a problem that has directly impacted their daily lives and health conditions.

The project is being implemented with the support of the United Nations Special Trust Fund (UN_STFA) and will use solar energy systems to supply and distribute water—a method considered both sustainable and suitable for remote areas.

UN-Habitat officials say this water supply network, once completed, will meet the essential needs of approximately 600 families and could serve as a lifeline for the camp’s residents.
