Taliban Spokesman Claims Afghanistan is Moving Toward Economic Self-Sufficiency

Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesman for the Taliban administration, has claimed that Afghanistan is progressing toward sustainable security, economic self-sufficiency, and comprehensive stability, asserting that the country is capable of fully defending its territory.
According to him, the Taliban administration has sought to strengthen security and administrative structures compared to the past by relying on internal capacities, aiming to establish nationwide stability. Mujahid added that this process is being pursued with “measured and confident steps.”
The Taliban spokesman also emphasized that reconstruction and economic development programs have accelerated, with ongoing efforts to reduce dependence on foreign aid. He described economic self-sufficiency as one of the main pillars of the current administration’s policies.
These statements come as a large portion of the country’s population continues to face serious economic challenges, unemployment, and widespread social restrictions. Independent international organizations have repeatedly expressed concern over the living conditions and fundamental rights of the Afghan people—issues that are rarely reflected in the official claims of the Taliban administration.
