Bavarian Conservative CSU Calls for Tougher Immigration Policies and Increased Deportations

The conservative Bavarian party, Christian Social Union (CSU), has stated that immigration policies should become stricter, calling for an increase in the deportation of migrants, including those from Syria and Afghanistan. This stance was outlined in internal party documents prepared for discussion at the Bavarian parliamentary meeting.

According to the document, seen by the German news agency dpa, CSU leaders argue that with the end of the civil war in Syria, the reasons for granting temporary protection to many Syrian refugees no longer exist. The party demands a review of the residency status of these individuals and an acceleration of their return process.

Another section of the proposal advocates for a tougher approach towards Ukrainian refugees. The document states that men of military age should participate in the defense of their country, and this consideration should be reflected in Germany’s immigration policies.

At the same time, the CSU emphasizes the need for stronger measures against extremism. The proposal to deport Afghan refugees comes amid ongoing concerns by international organizations regarding the human rights and security situation under Taliban rule, with forced returns potentially resulting in severe humanitarian consequences.
