WFP Begins Winter Food Aid Distribution to 14,000 Residents in Jowzjan Province

The World Food Programme (WFP) has announced that, in collaboration with its partner organizations, it has commenced the distribution of food aid in Jowzjan province, reaching 14,000 residents ahead of the approaching winter cold.

According to this announcement, the aid includes wheat, legumes, and nutritious food items aimed at meeting the urgent needs of families during Afghanistan’s harsh winter. WFP officials emphasized that field teams continue to operate across various areas of Jowzjan.

The WFP stated that each aid shipment plays a vital role in strengthening families’ resilience against severe winter conditions and particularly helps maintain children’s nutrition.

This comes amid many families in northern Afghan provinces, including Jowzjan, facing poverty, reduced access to food, and vulnerability to the cold, making humanitarian assistance critically important for them.
