Soviet-Era Tanks Discovered in Helmand Province

The Helmand Directorate of Information and Culture announced the discovery of several tanks remaining from the Soviet forces’ presence in Afghanistan, found in areas of the province.
According to Hafiz Abdul Bari Rashid, the head of the directorate, these tanks were identified and extracted by security officials on Sunday. He stated that these military vehicles had been destroyed at the start of the war.
Based on provided information, after being damaged, the tanks were buried underground during the period of the U.S. military presence in Afghanistan, and their locations have now been identified.
Helmand province in southern Afghanistan is one of the regions that has witnessed foreign military presence and conflict over the past decades, and remnants of past wars are still visible in some areas.
