Six Killed in Kabul–Jalalabad Highway Crash

Six people, including a woman and a child, were killed and three others injured in a tragic traffic accident on the Kabul–Jalalabad highway. The incident occurred yesterday in the Miakhan Kats area of Qarghayi district in Laghman province, when a Toyota Corolla veered off the road and overturned.

Younas Yousufzai, spokesperson for the Laghman police department, confirmed the crash and said that driver negligence was responsible for the deadly accident. According to Yousufzai, the vehicle lost balance and completely overturned, causing several passengers to die instantly at the scene.

He added that the injured were immediately taken to nearby medical centers and are currently under medical care. No detailed information has yet been released about their current condition.

The Kabul–Jalalabad highway is one of the key inter-provincial routes in eastern Afghanistan and has frequently witnessed deadly traffic accidents. Lack of safety measures, poor traffic oversight, and deteriorating road conditions are among the main causes of such incidents. Despite these dangers, the Taliban administration has yet to take effective steps to improve road safety on this route.
