Privatized Tender for Sale of 164.5 kg of Meydan Wardak Sapphire Awarded to Private Company

The Ministry of Mines and Petroleum under the Taliban administration announced that the tender for the sale of 164.507 kilograms of sapphire from the Nerkh district of Meydan Wardak province was conducted transparently with the presence of relevant representatives and bidding companies, and a private company has been declared the winner.

According to a statement published on Monday, 4 January, this quantity of sapphire was extracted from the Shah-Kabul Khord area in Nerkh district and had previously been offered through a public tender. The tender process was held with the participation of the General Director of Cadastre and Mineral Regulation, the appointed committee, and the bidders.

According to sources, among the participants, the company “Ahmad Fouad Shirzoi” offered the highest price of 70 US dollars per kilogram and was announced the winner of the tender.

Additionally, during the meeting, the General Director of Cadastre and Mineral Regulation spoke about the facilities provided for investment in the country’s mineral resources and emphasized the importance of organized and transparent management of mines.
