Expert Warns of Dangerous Consequences from Secret Agreements Between Jolani and Trump Administration
A security expert has warned about the dangerous consequences of secret agreements between Ahmad al-Shara, known as Jolani, and the government of Donald Trump regarding the situation in Syria.
Abdul Karim Khalaf, in an interview with regional media, emphasized that these undisclosed agreements have directly facilitated the presence and activities of extremist elements in Syria, with their main objective being the targeted killing of minorities and various sects in the country.
According to him, the group called “Saraya Ansar al-Sunna” is actually a part of the structure of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham, and what is currently happening in Syria reflects a division of roles among groups sharing the same ideology who operate under different names.
The security expert added that the policy under Jolani’s leadership is based on the physical elimination of minorities and the suppression of sects, with key Syrian ministries, including Defense and Interior, effectively controlled by these elements. He believes there is no real will for political or security reforms in Syria.
Khalaf criticized the current situation, saying the current Syrian rulers have not only failed to prevent massacres in several provinces but are also content with their continuation. He emphasized that under such conditions, Syria’s minorities and sects have the right to defend themselves.
The expert warned that if this situation continues, Syria could be driven toward a prolonged and endless civil war, a state for which the armed groups and their covert political supporters bear responsibility.
