Iran Offers Humanitarian Aid to Earthquake Victims in Afghanistan’s Balkh Province

Iran has announced its readiness to provide humanitarian assistance to victims of the recent powerful earthquake in Khulm district of Afghanistan’s Balkh province.
Esmaeil Baghaei, spokesman for Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and injured in an official statement. He emphasized the Islamic Republic of Iran’s willingness to cooperate in the relief efforts.
At the same time, Pir-Hossein Kolivand, head of Iran’s Red Crescent Society, offered his sympathies to the head of the Afghan Red Crescent in an official message. Kolivand said that Iran is prepared to dispatch operational and relief teams—including rescue workers and necessary equipment—to assist in the aftermath of the disaster.
The message described the magnitude 6.3 earthquake that struck northern Afghanistan last night as a catastrophe, noting not only significant loss of life but also damage to local infrastructure. Iranian officials stressed their commitment to standing by the Afghan people during this difficult time.
However, the Taliban administration, which currently controls the province, has yet to issue a transparent or responsive statement regarding international aid offers. Concerns are mounting over the administration’s opaque and ineffective crisis management, raising fears about delays and challenges in the delivery of foreign assistance.
