Five Afghans Arrested in Islamabad on Charges of Subversive Activities

Police in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, announced that five Afghan nationals have been arrested on suspicion of involvement with a criminal gang known as “9T6.”
According to local media reports, including Nawa-i-Waqt News Agency, the arrests took place early Sunday morning, September 21, during a special security operation. Authorities said five pistols along with ammunition were seized from the detainees.
Pakistani security officials stated that the suspects are accused of criminal activities, including drug trafficking, theft across the city, and promoting violence by posting images of weapons on social media.
These arrests come amid rising concerns over the growing presence of Afghan citizens in Pakistani cities and the lack of effective oversight by the Taliban administration. The inability of the Taliban to maintain order and prevent criminals from fleeing across borders has contributed to negative perceptions of Afghans abroad and fueled discriminatory treatment.
