During an official meeting in Kabul, Din Mohammad Hanif, Taliban-appointed Minister of Economy, met with Takayoshi Koromaya, Japan’s Ambassador to Afghanistan, to discuss expanding economic cooperation between the two countries and continuing humanitarian assistance.
The Taliban Ministry of Economy, in a statement, said that Minister Hanif praised the ambassador’s role in strengthening relations between Japan and Afghanistan and expressed gratitude for Japan’s developmental and humanitarian support over the past two years.
Ambassador Koromaya emphasized the continuation of Japan’s development cooperation and humanitarian assistance, noting that Japan remains committed to supporting the Afghan people regardless of political developments.
The meeting comes amid increasing economic and humanitarian crises facing the Afghan population. The Taliban administration has so far been ineffective in providing basic services, with international assistance from countries like Japan primarily delivered through international organizations or projects outside the formal structures of the Taliban government.
