Italy Pledges New Emergency Aid for Earthquake Victims in Afghanistan

Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that the country has allocated new emergency assistance to address the aftermath of the recent earthquake in Afghanistan. Antonio Tajani, Italy’s Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, stated that this support is part of Italy’s humanitarian efforts to help those affected by the natural disaster.

According to the ministry’s statement, the aid is intended to meet the essential needs of residents in the earthquake-affected areas of Afghanistan. Details regarding the amount of assistance or its distribution have not yet been disclosed by Italian authorities.

In recent months, Afghanistan has experienced multiple natural disasters, including earthquakes in several western and northeastern provinces, causing dozens of deaths and injuries. The Taliban administration has so far been unable to provide sufficient services and assistance to those affected by these events.

The rising number of casualties and the lack of basic facilities in the affected areas highlight the urgent need for international support. In the absence of a legitimate and accountable authority, foreign aid often faces implementation challenges and risks of misuse, raising concerns about transparency in the distribution of assistance.
