This decision casts an uncertain future for the transfer and resettlement of thousands of Afghan citizens awaiting relocation to the United States.

A foundation supporting Afghan relocation stated in its recent newsletter that although travel routes for Afghans to the U.S. had already been closed previously, the new budget even dismantles the structures and systems necessary to resume this process.

According to the foundation, the new budget plan does not only cut the dedicated program for transferring Afghan allies but also cancels accounts related to resettlement and refugee assistance. Humanitarian resources have also been redirected away from supporting migrants toward preventing migration and facilitating returns.

The organization added that currently, due to executive orders, the visa issuance process for Afghans is halted, and effectively no Afghan citizen is accepted through legal channels into the U.S.

The foundation warned that the proposed budget not only fails to improve the already difficult situation but also cements it indefinitely, further diminishing hopes of reopening legal pathways for Afghan relocation.

The White House’s 2027 budget proposal eliminates funding for Afghan allies’ transfer and resettlement programs, leaving thousands facing an uncertain future.

[17,2

post-9919","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-migrant-news
["GET
