Donald Trump, President of the United States, has stated that he is seriously considering withdrawing the US from the NATO military alliance in response to what he calls the “lack of NATO support in the Iran war.” He emphasized that he has long held a critical view of NATO and is now evaluating this issue at the decision-making level.<\/p>\n
In an interview with the British newspaper The Telegraph, Trump said he has never been impressed by NATO and believes the alliance is not sufficiently effective. He also claimed that Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, has recognized the coalition\u2019s weaknesses.<\/p>\n
In another part of his remarks, the US president referred to the United Kingdom, stating that the British Navy lacks adequate operational capacity. He further criticized the UK government\u2019s energy policies, alleging that focusing on wind energy projects has driven up energy costs.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio recently announced that Washington will review its relationship with NATO after the end of the war. He said that the US funds a large portion of the alliance\u2019s budget, but, in his view, member states have not reciprocated.<\/p>\n
