Donald Trump, President of the United States, has once again declared in an official statement that the US is engaged in \u201cserious negotiations\u201d with Iran; however, he simultaneously warned that if no agreement is reached, the country\u2019s vital infrastructure will be targeted in attacks.<\/p>\n
Trump made these remarks on the social media platform Truth Social, claiming that Washington is in talks with \u201ca new, more reasonable government\u201d to end military operations in Iran. He asserted that \u201csignificant progress\u201d has been made during these discussions.<\/p>\n
However, the US president adopted a harsher tone in his message, stating that if a deal is not reached soon and the Strait of Hormuz is not immediately reopened for trade, the United States will end its presence in Iran with \u201cexplosions and complete destruction\u201d of power plants, oil wells, Kharg Island, and possibly desalination facilities. He emphasized that these installations have so far been deliberately spared.<\/p>\n
Trump justified these threats by saying such actions would be in response to the killing of several American soldiers and others over past decades.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Iranian officials have previously stated that no negotiations are underway with the United States. Some analysts believe that by claiming talks are taking place, the US president is attempting to seize the political initiative and position himself advantageously.<\/p>\n
