He emphasized that the Taliban administration should serve as the country’s official representative in this international body.

Since the fall of the previous Afghan government in 2021, the seat representing Afghanistan at the United Nations has not been transferred to a representative appointed by the Taliban administration. The decision to accept a country’s representative in the UN is made based on established procedures and a vote by the Credentials Committee of the General Assembly.

Despite the Taliban’s return to power several years ago, no country has officially recognized the Taliban administration as Afghanistan’s legitimate government. The international community has repeatedly stressed that forming an inclusive government, respecting human rights—especially the rights of women and girls—and ensuring basic freedoms are preconditions for formal engagement.

While the Taliban insist on their right to claim the UN seat, ongoing restrictions on girls’ education, women’s employment, and citizens’ political participation remain major obstacles to international acceptance of the administration. Many experts believe that without significant changes in domestic policy, the Taliban’s efforts to obtain Afghanistan’s seat at the United Nations will face serious challenges.

Taliban’s acting envoy insists on Afghanistan’s UN seat, but international concerns over human rights and inclusive governance remain major hurdles.

[17,4

post-9174","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-politics
["GET
