A group of Iranian civil and political activists has issued an official petition condemning the attack on the \u201cShajareh Tayyebeh\u201d school in the city of Minab as a war crime, calling for investigation and legal prosecution by international bodies. The organizers of this campaign stated that 168 students lost their lives as a result of the incident.<\/p>\n
The petition was initiated by the “In the Name of Iran” campaign and has been published in both Persian and English. The organizers say this document is addressed to competent national and international entities to pursue legal processes related to the incident. Over 1,144 well-known Iranian researchers and civil and political activists have signed it.<\/p>\n
In the text of the petition, referencing paragraph four of article two of the UN Charter, the attack is described as a \u201cwar crime\u201d and a \u201cclear act of aggression.\u201d The signatories have called on institutions such as the International Criminal Court, the UN Security Council, and the UN Human Rights Council to take urgent action to clarify the details of the incident and hold possible perpetrators accountable.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, prosecutors and courts in countries with the principle of \u201cuniversal jurisdiction,\u201d such as Germany, France, and Belgium, have been urged to investigate the matter without political considerations. The principle of universal jurisdiction allows certain countries to conduct judicial proceedings on serious international crimes, even if they occur outside their territory.<\/p>\n
The English version of the petition has also been published by the \u201cGlobal Conscience Initiative\u201d and has been signed by several prominent international figures, including Jeremy Corbyn, Ahmet Davuto\u011flu, Abdullah G\u00fcl, Mohammad Javad Zarif, Tawakkol Karman, and Mohamed ElBaradei.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
