In a statement, South Korea\u2019s Joint Chiefs emphasized the country\u2019s readiness to respond decisively to any provocative actions from its northern neighbor. No further details regarding the range or types of the missiles have been released.<\/p>\n
Earlier, South Korea\u2019s Ministry of Defense reported the launch of an unidentified projectile toward the Sea of Japan. Japan\u2019s Defense Minister stated that the projectile, believed to be a ballistic missile, fell outside Japan\u2019s exclusive economic zone.<\/p>\n
These developments coincide with the ongoing annual joint military exercises between South Korean and U.S. forces, known as \u201cFreedom Shield.\u201d Part of these drills took place today along a river in Yeoncheon, north of Seoul.<\/p>\n
