He emphasized that preventing escalation of tensions and returning to political dialogue were the main focuses of these consultations.

On Saturday, March 13th, Yu wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account that both sides stressed the importance of curbing violence, resuming negotiations, and strengthening the peace process. According to him, combating terrorism was also part of the discussions.

These diplomatic efforts come amid rising tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in recent months, which have led to several armed clashes. The continuation of this situation has raised concerns about further instability in the border regions.

The Chinese special envoy had previously spoken with Amir Khan Mutaqi, the Taliban’s foreign minister, about ending the hostilities. Meanwhile, Wang Yi, China’s foreign minister, separately told Mutaqi that Beijing is ready to play a mediating role to resolve tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan.

The increase in border clashes occurs despite the Taliban administration’s consistent emphasis on security. However, the ongoing tensions raise questions about how border relations are managed and how to prevent the expansion of insecurity in the region.

China steps in to mediate rising border tensions between the Taliban administration and Pakistan, aiming to halt clashes and revive peace talks.

[17,4

post-8754","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-important-news","category-politics
["GET
